Our client, a leading Pharmaceutical company in Sligo, is seeking a Senior Chemist. Reporting to the head of Technical Operations, the Senior Chemist will lead the introduction of new APIs through a dedicated, high-potent gram scale GMP facility. The successful candidate will develop the site capability to manufacture novel therapies at the interface between small molecule and biomolecule entities. Opportunities also exist to support larger scale NPI commercialization projects.This position is a key role for succession planning within the Technical Operations department. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership during the transfer of NPI programs to the site. Provide hands-on expertise for the synthesis of high value APIs at gram scale. Drive enhanced understanding of route chemistry through detailed mechanistic studies and focused multivariate experimentation. Build a strong relationship with R&D function to facilitate technical transfer activities. Define and future-proof the strategy for high-potent, low-volume products through the gram scale GMP synthesis facility. Qualifications: Degree in chemistry focused science - Minimum. A Ph.D in organic chemistry- Desirable. Desired Experience: 2-4Years experience in similar role. Synthesis of high-potent cytotoxic agents. Fluent in practical and theoretical aspects of synthetic organic chemistry. Firm understanding of process scale-up concepts. Experience of various applied analytical techniques applicable to complex API molecules. A proven track record in taking ownership of technical problems and developing safe & elegant solutions is a fundamental requirement. Experience in the following areas, while not essential, is a distinct advantage: Experience in the synthesis of pre-conjugation payloads of Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC. Statistics including familiarity with DoE. Crystallization development. Process Analytical Technology. Preparatory scale chromatography. Management of a laboratory suite.
