Social Care Manager. Responsible to: Services Manager. Duties and Responsibilities include: The Young People. To create and maintain a safe, caring and secure environment for the young people in your care. To ensure that the programme of care for each young person is agreed upon with the Social Work team and family, implemented and regularly monitored. To ensure that each young person has a care plan and a working placement plan which is devised in consultation with all parties. To promote the rights and responsibilities of each young person in your care and ensure non-discriminatory practices are implemented within the centre. To ensure that each young person is provided with sufficient funding for clothing, activities, pocket money, personal needs, extra educational needs, other agency support e.g.: counselling as deemed to be part of the placement plan. The Centre. To manage the centre in accordance with the Childcare Act, National Standards for Residential Care, Freedom of Information Act, Childrens First and other relevant legislation and guidelines as directed by the Department of Health & Children. To ensure service level agreements are adhered to for each young person outlining the roles and responsibilities of the placement/service provider, the expectations, dates for review and procedures for admission & discharge. To provide a working policies and procedures, health and safety, child protection and other relevant documents that is effectively understood, reviewed and complied with by the staff team. To ensure a clear complaints procedure is in place for young people, staff, families and social workers that is accessible. To attend training, supervision and meetings as identified by Director of Services. The Staff Team. To assist with recruitment and vetting and provide induction for suitably qualified and experienced staff ensuring a good balance on the staff team allowing for training, sick leave and annual leave. To provide induction for new staff ensuring they are appropriately supervised, have sufficient time to familiarize themselves with the running of the centre, access to all policies and procedures and information and are supported by the staff team in their role. To ensure all staff files are kept as standards require with appropriate vetting, Garda Clearance, reference checks etc. To lead, support and motivate the staff team in dealing with challenging behaviour, controlled emotional involvement, key working, liaising with professionals and through regular supervision and informal support are allowed the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally. To remain updated on employment law and ensure that fair and transparent procedures are in place.
