Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company in Sligo, is looking to recruit a Mechanical Project Engineer on a 12 month contract initially. Job Description: Execute on a wide range of mechanical equipment projects to support new equipment introduction and continuous improvement activities on existing equipment. Develop User Requirements Specifications for new equipment. Lead and actively participate in design reviews for new equipment to ensure robust designs to meet end requirements. Lead and actively participate in equipment acceptance trials at vendor and on site and ensure all requirements are met. Develop project status reports and issue on a routine basis to management. Validation of new processes and development of technical documentation. Seek and Implement improvement opportunities for safety, quality and efficiency. Identification of areas of opportunity for new technology. Preparation of capital expenditure requests. Mechanical troubleshooting of injection moulding and assembly equipment. Creation and update of mechanical drawings. Design and build of mechanical components. Create calibration procedures and ensure compliance with calibration requirements. Create Preventive Maintenance procedures and ensure compliance with PM on equipment. Management of relevant budgets within target. Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to. Support the Engineering Team in ensuring that manufacturing equipment is maintained to meet the required legal, divisional and corporate standards. Liaise with Division Engineering as required. Ensure the effective management of appropriate internal and external plant projects. Implementation of all relevant policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering & Safety. Supervise external contractors. Negotiate cost / quality effective external contracts. Prepare appropriate CAPA plans and implement timelines. Manage external suppliers and negotiate expedited lead times for equipment, changes, parts and supplies. Issue management reports as requested and on time. Present project status updates at various management levels. Implement training programmes for operational and technical staff and cross train within engineering. Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to. Ensure the effective management of relevant internal and external plant projects. Prepare appropriate CAPA plans and implement per timelines. Requirements: Honours degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or plastics related. Minimum of 2 years experience in a Manufacturing environment in the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Industry. Minimum 2 years experience with project coordination and execution in manufacturing processes and/or NPI projects. Knowledge of moulding processes and/or mould tooling is an advantage. Working knowledge of AutoCad and/or Solidworks. Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills; statistical knowledge/experience would be advantageous. Results driven with proven ability to prioritize work. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. Good working knowledge of validation and quality systems. Excellent report writing is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be available to travel when required.
