Our client,a leading pharmaceutical multinational in Sligo, is seeking to recruit a Engineering Manager to join its site leadership team. Job Purpose: The Engineering Manager is responsible for the engineering and maintenance function including the provision of quality, timely and cost effective maintenance & facilities management services and the execution of the approved Capital Plan ensuring the capital program is completed on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that the principles and guidelines of GMP and as interpreted in the EU Guide to GMP have been followed. Play a leading role in ensuring that all Engineering procedures and processes are in compliance with cGMP Regulations, Good Engineering Standards, Global Quality Standards and Engineering Standards and other relevant specific corporate directives. Direct all activities for site maintenance & engineering operations and make all major decisions in relation to these operations. Work effectively as a member of the site leadership team making key strategic decisions for the site. Contribute to the development of site policies and strategies aimed at the overall development and improvement of the site. Introduce cost saving initiatives including energy and water conservation programs. Collaborate with other department leaders to resolve issues escalated to management. Implement project management procedures and manage limited resources to deliver projects on time and on budget. Develop KPIs that drive continuous improvement in the performance of services provided. Manage the engineering team, identify training requirements and develop the skill-set within the engineering group to support existing and new technologies introduced as part of technology transfer. Set team goals and guide team members in setting realistic and focused objectives for themselves. Give team members timely and appropriate feedback on performance against these objectives. Ensure that performance appraisals are carried out for all departmental employees on a twice yearly basis. Develop a safety awareness culture within the engineering team and ensure risks to employee health and safety are rigidly controlled. Essential: Educated to Degree (Hons) level in an Engineering discipline. Chemical / Biopharmaceutical preferred. Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of the processes and equipment involved in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals or biologicals. Experience in FMEA ,QRM, P&ID development, PFD development. Ability to manage projects within an agreed time schedule. Ability to co-operate and work well with others in the pursuit of team goals. Desired: Higher Degree (M.Sc./ Ph.D.) in a Engineering discipline while not essential would be an advantage. Expertise in process & technology transfers for vaccine/sterile manufacturing. Understanding of validation activities associated with aseptic process, technology transfer and process validation. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
